I’ve always made art but only began to take it seriously upon retirement from my corporate career over a decade ago. Since then I’ve attended lots of courses with CityLit, Royal Drawing School, Newlyn School of Art as well as life drawing with independent providers.
I split my time between London and North Oxfordshire, where my studio is in a converted stable in the garden. I draw, paint and sometimes make models from both observation and my imagination in a wide range of media including drawing in pen, ink, charcoal, graphite, pastels and painting in oils, watercolours, acrylics, spray paints - and whatever else comes to hand.
There are three parts to what I do:
Drawing and sketching a wide range of subjects - particularly outdoors in Oxfordshire and the Lake District and also whilst walking in England (Southwest Coast path) Spain (Camino), Menorca, Corfu and Malta.
Painting - mainly in oil/watercolour and occasionally acrylic both in my studio and en plain air.
Illustrating - creating daily images from my imagination inspired by lines of a wide range of poetry as well as the short-form haiku and in particular those written by the American poet and novelist Jack Kerouac
